=====Proposed Rules for OpenNIC TLD creation===== **The following ideas are in consideration for implementation:** To propose a new TLD: - must be active with OpenNIC for at least 6 months - must have run a public Tier-2 server for at least 3 months To vote on OpenNIC proposals: - must have been active on the mailing list for at least 1 month Votes on the mailing list: - Voting period must be a minimum of 7 days - Another member of OpenNIC must be willing to 'second' the proposal before a vote can be called. If the vote is in relation to a new TLD, the member who seconds the proposal cannot be part of the TLD's working team. - Because TLDs are a major component of OpenNIC, these votes will require a 2/3 approval (66.667%) to be passed. - If a new TLD is unable to allow user registration of domains within 30 days of a passing vote, records for the TLD will be removed and the owner(s) will need to request a new vote (with a second, as above) for TLD approval AFTER they have successfully demonstrated a working registration system.
